Pummeling Pike through the Ice
Today I squatted in 7 feet of water to fish for pike..... but I forgot the bait at home! I guess it is time to really test my luck.

Well done !
Was really cool to see the fish through the hole! Too bad he didn't hit while you had the camera on him
Maybe one day!
I notice some latency when jigging is this just a camera delay or is that with the unit
Are you talking about the latency on the Lowrance unit? There shouldn't be any delay with the camera. The Lowrance seems to be a, I'd say 0.75 second delay from when you jig to seeing your bait move on the screen, so yeah there is a bit of latency
You might have a bad battery that 12v 10ah should last longer that that. Norsk told me 14.8v 15ah would get me more than day
That interesting that you said that. I actually had bought a dakota lithium that only lasted 10 minutes, so that one is for sure bad. I returned it and got this one, and it lasted the two hours, so i assumed that's all it could do. If it is indeed another bad battery, then that is two for two for dakota in my experience. I might give it another try after charging it to full again since I have had a few others commenting that theirs lasts longer
@SaskCastAngling make sure it's a lithium charger a normal charger will not fully charge a lithium battery
Nice walleye.😊😅🎉
Have same unit and battery. I bought two just incase. I fully charged the batteries before I went out yesterday. 5 hours of constant power draw and when I plugged in the charger this morning it was reading over 75% still. Weird
12v 10ah dakotas*
That's quite interesting. I wonder what the issue was then in my case. I have the Dakota Lithium right now as a backup right now. 🤷♂️
@@SaskCastAngling I’ve heard of them getting horrible usage but they were on sale for 100$ a piece so I grabbed 2 and was in shock to see the usage this morning. Hopefully it stays that way.
I hope so for your sake as well! Perhaps my ERYY is just overkill and I never have to ever worry about it now 😅
The biggest issue for all the ice fishing companies is customer access. Most of the stuff I want I cant find a retailer for. It's actually becoming very frustrating.
A lot of the specific things you tend to need to search and shop online. I picked up the Eagle Eye 9 at GPS Central, and had them deliver it to me. A bit of a pain, but it seems to be the way the world is going.
Congrats on the PB! Looked like a nice day out there. Kristine loved watching the Fish Finder in the video lol.
What are you running for a battery with the eagle eye??
I am using a ERYY 12v 23.4AH (30AH) LiFePO4 Battery. I bought it on Amazon. It lasts me all day. I had tried a 12v 10AH dakota lithium battery and it only lasted two hours. I plan on making and putting out a video on all my setup for the Eagle Eye 9 soon!
That looks like a damn nice chain of lakes. I might have to drive over there from Wisconsin and pluck a few out of there. Is your "dead stick" a rattle wheel? Congratulations on those fish.
They chains got some relly big fish, but they can be tough to find! On the dead stick all I had was just a jig head with a minnow tail on it. And a bell attached to the rod tip.
Awesome video man! Looks like a good day! I’ve gotta get some more walleye videos on my channel! Keep up the awesome job!! 🤝💪
Thanks man! Walleye are always so much fun to fish, so they make great videos!
Have you experimented with forward view?
Not really yet. I've turned it on and looked around, it has a bunch of noise in compared to downward view that when playing with it for a few seconds, had trouble getting rid of. I will be trying it out more in the future for sure though.
I have one and have used forward. It has helped me out a lot. Not as good as live scope but it’s impressive for 1/3rd the price
keep working your gonna get to 1m in 2y
Thanks for the vote of confidence! I will certainly try my best 💪
Awesome, very interesting ice fishing
Do you have a list of all the parts/items that you showed in the video. Thank you
I did not, but I just spent some time and updated the description of the video to include a bit more detail on the parts/items, complete with links to the equipment/equivalents I could find online. If you have any other specific item questions, let me know I can take a closer look and let you know. In terms of rods and reels, tackle, I change it up per video out on the water, and in the descriptions of those videos is where I put the details.
Why is the floor still on the lawn Whats inside now
On the inside of the boat in the video is the floor of the boat itself. It is just the same material as the sides and everything else, and is not stable to stand on. Standing on that alone is like standing in a recreational tube. The floor outside on the lawn gets placed inside and is much more rigid to give stability when standing in the boat. I have it outside for the sake of the video just to show that there is a separate floor than the bottom of the inflatable boat.
do you have to put the chairs in a way that they align with the plastic floor? Also with the plastic floor.. does it move a whole lot when you stand on it?
There's no correct way to align the chairs, but the floor has space between the plastic peices that I showed that the feet of the chairs kind of settle in between. As for the floor moving while standing, not a whole lot. It is quite sturdy and does not sink in like if you were to say stand in a pull-around recreational tube. The side edges of the floor wedge underneath the side tubes, which further anchors them in so to speak. I wouldn't recommend standing or walking around too much on a very windy day.
Does your boat have a self bailing option, or how do you get water out of your boat after taking it on the water?
It does not have a self bailing option. It doesn't accumulate a lot of water while out there, but I always have a towel I can use to soak and twist out of the boat like a sponge if necessary. After I am done fishing, I deflate and pack the boat up to fit in my car, so at that point I dump the water out at the lake by just flipping it.
Stick your net in the rod holder 👍
What a nice coworker!
There is also largemouth bass in Willow's Dam near Assiniboia, Saskatchewan as well! Also Willow's Dam was stocked with largemouth bass in the mid 1960s very very few have been actually caught. The biggest largemouth bass pulled out of Willow's Dam was a six pound largemouth. I have seen even bigger largemouth bass from Willow's Dam but it was dried up and it the grass.... not even sure how that bass even got there....??? My father also caught a bass from Willow's Dam about 2 pounds but bass from Willow's Dam so bass do exist but are extremely rare to catch! To catch a bass from Willow's Dam may be once in a lifetime chance and this would be only for locals living in near Willow's Dam and Assiniboia.....!
I had no idea! I have heard that Bass had been stocked in a few places in Saskatchewan in the past, but I was under the impression they all got winter killed. This is neat to know. Perhaps some of the other places they were stocked still have a small population and are just very difficult to find!
@@SaskCastAngling Willow's Dam is also stocked with perch and walleye as well. Some of the original walleye (about 45 years now) are super big > in excess of 14 pounds. Walleye was stocked in the New Willow's Dam so water overflow from Old Dam had a second place to flow into and some of the bass also got into the new Dam during spring runoff. The perch now are in excess of 1 pound and walleyes are being stocked every few years. Last time I heard (when I lived in Assiniboia) was walleyes were netted at Fife Lake and transferred to Willow's Dam. Only thing I didn't like was there was a lot of ticks at Willow's Dam. Got at least one tick everytime we went out fishing...!
Those are some big walleye! Is there good access to Willow's Dam? I might have to make a trip out there one day and make a video, see if I can't hook into a bass or a large walleye!
@@SaskCastAngling The smaller walleye are easy to catch but the original walleye they stocked the New Willow's Dam are just about impossible to catch. Willow's Dam is pretty easy to access and most people in Assiniboia can tell you how to get to Willow's Dam. It's only about 10 minutes from Assiniboia by car. Lots of good deer hunting and duck hunting around Assiniboia as well. Prairie chicken's are pretty common as well and really good eating!
9:44 Wow that is a big one 😮
Lemon is such a moron…. How does he still exist?
Looks like the lake in Springfield.
Yo that water is GNARLY bro
You're not wrong 😅. It sticks to your lure like paint
@@SaskCastAngling Holy shit, what is it just like some bad algae buildup?
@@JimboTheMick I believe so!
@@SaskCastAngling Damn, that sucks man, that shit not only messes with us humans but can fuck with fish population
Luckily this is just a resevoir, so it is contained to only one waterbody, but it is the only place in Saskatchewan you can catch Largemouth! 😢
nice pike!
Thanks man!
Nice fishing
Thanks!
Our company fishing trip every year is up at Mirond Lake at a little lodge called Silence of The North. We've gone the past couple years and go again in a couple weeks. Can't wait, 3 nights 4 days of fishing. Everything from bottom bouncing with crawlers to jigging to swim baits it always a great time. Been fishing the qu'appelle lakes and Last Mountain lake most of the season so far as its much closer to home, but it is sure a treat going up north and fishing lakes that aren't nearly as pressured. Take care!
That's awesome! I do find that fishing is better up in the northern part of the province, and I enjoy the trees a lot more for scenery. I'm jealous about the company fishing trip, I usually have to take vacation to travel north!
Nice video I appreciate the natural nature sounds. I don’t care for videos with loud annoying music. I enjoyed watching today when I can’t fish. Tomorrow I fish in Central Minnesota. Keep up the relaxing videos.
Thanks! I am glad that vibe came across for the video, it was what I was aiming for. Good luck fishing tomorrow! 💪
congrats!
Thanks!
epic walleye catching
Thanks!
I've fished there quite a few times man!
It has become one of my favourite places for lots of action!
When the heck did you find a calm day to fish 😂
It wasn't easy! 😅
Didn’t expect to be called out like that 😂😂. Let’s be fair if I was there we’d get no bites.
That fluttering pole had walleye written all over it. Nice fishing!
Great video congrats on the PB!
To save your hands and the fish, get yourself a J & B Fish Horn. Once you have the fish on it, it is amazing how easy it is to remove the hook from the fish. Keep up the good fishing!
Nice day on a trophy lake!
Where on lake you at
I launched at Sorensons and was trolling up and down the shore from there
