Having been opened in 2002, this is a relatively new sister museum to the Imperial War Museum in London. Like the London Museum, it also tells the story of conflicts fought by the British and Commonwealth forces from 1914 onwards, beginning with the First and Second World Wars and going into the more recent conflicts. This very large museum space has a minimalist approach to its display. Personally, I'd rather see more uniforms and weapons crammed in there with detailed descriptions of each item but I do appreciate that their aim here is not to disect details of regimental insignia but to educate the general public about the nature of war and the suffering caused by it around the world.
