アクション映画というのは本来、スタント使ってでも力強いアクションを見せるべき。観る側に、手に汗握る興奮をもたらすものでなきゃダメだろう。彼女の空手の腕前はすごいとは思うけど、CGもスタントも使ってないですよという演出のこだわりが、逆に映像としての迫力を失わせている。なんだか、空手演武を見せられているような感覚になる。 つまり、観客に迫力のある映像を見せて喜んでもらうという、本来のアクション映画としては本末転倒な結果となっているように思える。

Taekwondo kicking in a movie about Karate. Crap story but pretty good fight scenes.

The first time I've ever stopped watching a movie less than half way in, was on this movie. Ladies and gentlemen, this movie is actually as bad as the rating says it is, for once. I've watched several martial arts films, and this is easily the worst one I've ever seen, I doubt anything can top this. I've never seen such gentle punching/kicking with dramatic reactions (sometimes failing to make contact), the fight scenes were actually painful to watch (not in a good way) the combat was slow and really unrealistic (the victims of attacks stood there, sometimes for several seconds, waiting to be hit). 1/5. Look at the trailer, it doesn't get any better than that, pay close attention to the fight scenes. Don't believe me? Go watch it yourself then.

I thought it was going to be like the comic book Karate Girl where she's from space and well gets dirty...

Finally watched this a few hours ago on netflix! Will have to buy the DVD and add to my martial arts movie collection! Nice fight scenes! These two girls are really good! And it was a treat for me to see the nunchaku being used on screen again! Don't see that much these days. Loved seeing some traditional karate onscreen too, as I am an active practitioner of the art and could personally appreciate what I was seeing. Felt like there were certain points in the movie where it could have expressed the philosophy of karate a little bit more. However, they did make the point that karate is to protect, not kill, so I was happy about that. Although... well, I can't really speak specifically where I felt they could have implemented this lesson a little more without spoiling the film, so I'll remain silent. But overall, I enjoyed it! :)

I'm surprised Akihito Yagi wasn't in this movie. He and Tatsuya Naka were on screen rivals in Kuro Obi and High Kick girl.

At first I was like, she's kinda cute. Then I was like, hey they're kicking pretty good and taking a little beating, not bad. Then I saw her jump in the air kick and sweep someone so fluidly and I was just, like wtf she's legit lol Just 0:14 I found to be legitimately impressive lol Whether it's a drill, predetermined, I don't care. Most people can't do that if you gave that to them.

What the heck was that kick at the end.
