Hello everyone! I studied Urban and Regional Planning and worked as a city planner for 8 years. I’ll use my urban planning experience to build an effectively functioning city in Cities Skylines.
Personally, I like to play the game mostly vanilla. By following the city planning principles, I’ll focus on how the system works in the game and share with you what I have learned.

Mastering Block Layouts for an Amazing Cityscape in Cities Skylines 1
Today, we'll focus on choosing the right growables for better block layouts using urban planning principles in vanilla Cities Skylines 1. This will help us achieve proper building height gradation and create a more realistic cityscape.
Since I’m not using mods, getting the buildings I want will be a bit challenging. That’s why I had to work offline with hundreds of growables to master their behaviors. However, since this is truly a time-consuming process, I don't plan to continue like this without using mods again. Putting mods aside, I’ll primarily focus on what we need to consider to choose the right building in the right place.
If you found the video helpful, you can help me reach more people by giving it a thumbs up and subscribe. It was a challenging episode to wrap up, and I’m very curious about your comments.
Enjoy!

Starting PLAN of a NEW CITY from a City Planner in Vanilla Cities Skylines Ep 1
มุมมอง 5K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Starting a new city is always exciting in Cities Skylines. As a city planner, I'll show you how to plan more organic and effective start in a vanilla map. The map is Azure Gulf from Sunset Harbour DLC. Before starting the gameplay, I’ll analyze the map and develop a new city planning strategy to build a functional city. Designing first neighborhood can be challenging due to limited funds. But i...
Can I ask what program did you use for the first planning, like the Map Analysis and Planning strategy?
Photoshop
@@empathcityplanner Ah makes sense, I thought it looked a lot like what I do in Illustrator.
Actually, I drew the roads in Illustrator and did the animation in Photoshop =))
How can you zoom in with the camera like that much to a cim?

A high quality video that enhances the importance of keeping cities logical. I will surely take note for my next and current cities. Keep doing great work !
Glad it was helpful!
Amazing video
Oh gosh. The game does not have that much depth dude!
it was great work. replacing palm road with huge flower road was diabolical since cars now have to drive through that plants
Dude your graphics are great, its fine man 👍🏼
Very good tutorial
2:40 Interesting! So it's the opposite to real life. In reality, the higher level, the more space per person/household. Low income families live in smaller spaces and high income families live in more spacious houses and flats. 🤷♂️
Yeah, mostly that way =)
So good content! 👍🏅 I'd love to see similar for C:S 2
777th sub, lucky number
Wow, amazing content! So insightful into urban planning! 👍🏅
Amazing content! I'm sorry if I missed it, but how do you control how the buildings spawned?
By bulldozing and waiting for the right one:))
This is why i quit cities skylines too many sweats
good music, nice video
Oh man when you plopped that parking garage my mind went: "i hope the empty space gets filled with a pedestrian path" and seconds later you read my mind!
Kotai (KTI) comes... Stay smart.
Im getting hooked on your content! Keep up the good work!
It. Was. Amazing! Wow. Just... wow...
So glad the algorithm brought me here!!! Great video. You earned my sub
This, and your previous video, are fantastic. Well thought out design with easy to follow explanations behind every choice. I've just spent a couple of hours going through them and making copious notes for future reference. Thank you so much for your work. Would love to see more of these!
I like the videos without mods. Thank you! Even when I let my feelings known Id rather the devs create content, paradox forums are still toxic.
This is awesome! I've struggled and never really managed to get the heights to look right. I'll give some of these techniques a try! I also like the idea of building out the framework and then coming back to it block by block and organizing it at a higher level of detail.
Best vannila neighborhood build i had ever seen and the video is quality. Keep going! 💪
PLEASE make more videos! These are so good!
this is genuinely my fav CS series on youtube. i love how you create these organic layouts without it looking messy. your attention to slightest details and the way you explain the purpose of every step really helped me with building more suitable and aesthetic cities. i can"t wait to see you expand the city! i would especially love to see how are you planning public tranport. <3
Thank you so much! =)
This video really changed my perspective on making my cities and filled me with so much inspiration. Thank you!!! You earned a new subscriber. :)
I love this! So well planned! Also, holy gazebo! I love seeing everybody's play styles. For me, it's the California Palm. Every lot has to have one 😂
You just make me want to delete all the DLCs and play full Vanilla
Great video! Very nice style of playing and planning your city, very inspiring.
Thank you very much=))

I really appreciate your feedback! Thank you =))
Major music headache!
you need more subs
wow bro
This looks very good even without any mods good job!
It was an impossible mission =))
Phenomenal. Want more contents like this.
Get modded trees!!!
Nice to see you again! As per usual, great build. I LOVE how you work and rework areas. I don't think enough people spend time on this the way that you do. Aw man, are you kidding me with that hidden beach?!?! AWESOME!
Since it's a vanilla series and I didn't want to affect the simulation, I didn't place buildings using mods. I’ve seen that it’s doable, but it took so much time that I realized I should use mods. I'm glad you liked it, thank you so much!
You should make a city in Cities Skylines 2
City Skylines 2 is out bro
Kinda sucks though iirc
Absolutely incredible👍👍
Glad you think so!
bro kudos to you for not using any lighting mods and sticking to the most unlivable lighting ever
