Zeke and Terri Adventures
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 4 ม.ค. 2024
Keeping it spicy as we navigate our lives and the world, mostly together.
We are empty-nest, midlife adventure travelers from the San Francisco Bay Area. In 2021, after 25 years of marriage, and nearly getting divorced, we accidentally rebooted our relationship and embarked on a new set of adventures, embracing our differences and challenging ourselves to grow individually, and as a couple, on a daily basis. We couldn't be more different, but we have a long history, a solid foundation, and a steadfast commitment to making it work, as we travel and explore the world.
We have two adult children, one in college and one recent college graduate. Terri is an author, avid tennis player, loves to read, learn new languages, go to museums, and is a commercially rated helicopter pilot, mostly flying around the Bay Area. Zeke is an avid cyclist, loves the outdoors, and shares his passion for both by teaching people how to ride and maintain bicycles of all kinds. #1412449.

Nice video about my hometown. Surfing on the river is a little different from surfing on the ocean. But ocean surfers will adapt very fast to it and vice versa. The "UFO" ist the Futuro house (1968) by the finnish architect Matti Suuronen. It was his idea of a ski lodge.
Thank you! We appreciate the info re the surfing. We really loved Munich and very much look forward to going back for a longer stay. You are lucky to have such a fantastic home town.

We are so glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!
I received your post card from the Charles Schultz Museum (thank you!). I had no idea there was such a museum!
If you were a Peanuts fan when you were a kid, this is a great, little museum. Take the time to read the comic strips and you can't help but be transported back to your youth.
I live in Santa Rosa and it’s fun to see it through other eyes. Glad you had a nice visit. If you like easy hiking we have a lovely City/County/State park system right in City limits. Spring is the best time of year, before it gets too hot.
We will definitely be back so thank for the suggestions on the easy hiking. We really like the trail near the Flamingo Resort.
Thanks for this video. I hope to go to PV this year. Nice tips!
We loved having you two come visit. Hope you’ll come back again next time your up this way!
I kept waiting for the moment where Terri is holding the football and Zeke comes running up to kick it. Great video, guys, will be hitting up some of those spots the next time we’re in Santa Rosa! (Love the Schulz museum)
Damn! That’s such a good idea!
AAAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
"You think people would let us come visit them at their house?" "No"
I (Terri) think people would us visit them and I think it would be fun!
mister george my beloved 😍😍😍
Anderson Valley
It's definitely on our list! Thank you for the reminder.
So enjoyable to watch. It seems you ticked off the best boxes. Still, you wouldn't be disappointed if you return during summer. Thank you both!
We aren't able to make it in the summer but we do plan to return in October to see more of Sweden and Scandinavia. We are so excited! Let us know if there's something that we should not miss on our next trip.
Beautiful Place. My Grandfather landed here During WWII as a member of The First Special Service Force (The Black Devil's/Devil's Brigade). They also took part in the Liberation of Rome.
We didn't learn anything about the WWII history while we were there. Thanks for sharing this. And yes, it is a beautiful place.
@ZekeandTerri Thank you for your reply. Yes Beautiful place But surreal to think that there was a Battle Raging on that Beach back than. Makes you think though if it wasn't for those Veterans No one would be enjoying that Beautiful place today. Thank you again for your reply and all the best from Canada 🙏🇨🇦
Nice work Zeke!
We belong to Craneway and play Pickleball there all the time! That whole area is awesome. I highly recommend going to Craneway for the Happy Hour Thursdays (4-10p), watch the sun set over the bay & SF, play some drop-in Pickleball, then walk to see the bay at night with city lit up and boats gliding through.
That sounds amazing and we are both envious that you are so close to be able to enjoy it as members!!!
Aww, love and hugs to you.
If you can believe it, as a life-long Californian, who even lived in LA at one point, I’ve never been to Mexico! After watching this I just might have to do it. You know what would be a fun thing to see: How many trips can you make with just a backpack? Like, what are the limits to how much travel a responsible middle-aged adult (i.e., not a college student) can comfortably do with all your possessions tucked in on your back?
Great suggestion and let us know if you need any ideas for Mexico. We are headed to Denver on Wednesday to help Adam move and we are only taking a backpack and February we are going to Disneyland for 48 hours with just a backpack. And Vegas in March we may do the same. Challenge accepted!
Porrohman tooo yeahhhhhh 💪😎😎💪😎
I love this! I'll be going to Tulum in March and you've convinced me to pack light. I like the thought of not having to think about what to wear. Makes so much sense.
Do it! Bring as little as possible. You will not regret. And we want to hear how it goes of course!
What an awesome idea! Maybe I should go spend four months in Paris with just my backpack...
We triple do dare you!!
Yup. Cool vid
Sure
entertaining and love the scientific approach to cold EV Travel.
@@gerardhoran we are so glad you enjoyed it. We’ve captured the data for other trips before but we were completely taken aback by how poor the range is in super cold (to us) weather. 🥶
@@ZekeandTerri Surprising to me also, thanks for taking the time
It might be better if NC wineries and associated social media would forego the seeming pretense for admission and invite any and all with a real interest.
Agreed. As you probably got from our video it’s gotten way out of hand.
My daughter was at DIS this Fall as well! She has been home a week now, but I have enjoyed finding videos like yours to be able to supplement her pictures and stories! Wonder if our kids knew each other!? Hope your kid had a wonderful semester!
Our kid had a great semester. Hope your daughter’s re-entry has been easy. It’s been good here.
I love the sauna and the bath. I do it as often as i can. glad you like it
We understand it has amazing health benefits.
Glad you enjoyed Sweden. Visiting Sweden during fall and winter is always a risky affair. You really ought to experience Sweden during summertime. Summer is the reason we still hang around here up north. Its a magic season over here. As a turist summer really shows Sweden from its best side. However...If you want to true experience of being a swede, then winter/fall it is. Kinda explaines the reserved approach to life we swedes tend to take... A most heartfull welcome back if you decide to return.
Once our youngest is done with college and not home for the summers, we may get to traveling during the summer again. Thanks for the encouragement to get us back to visit Sweden at another time of year although we are seriously considering another trip in October to see more of Sweden and expand into Norway, Denmark, and maybe Finland. Terri's only been to Finland (Helsinki) for Slush in late November/early December and didn't see much because of the conference.
As someone from Stockholm who lived and worked in London for a bit over a decade, one of the things I missed the most was the water. While London has the Thames, it's not the same as the closeness to the sea, the inlets and rivers. So if you like water, I definitely understand if that was part of the draw.
We are both from the San Francisco Bay Area and have grown up / lived around water nearly all of our lives so it's part of what makes us feel at home. We loved Vancouver, BC and Vancouver Island for the same reason when we visited in June. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@ZekeandTerri I can understand your love for water then. I hope your travels were fun!
I am not gonna rub more salt into the wounds of the "Vasa=Viking, thing", so I'm just gonna say that the Vasa Museum is, though I am biased, hands down one of the best museums in the world. The sheer scale of the ship and the fact that it IS the real ship NOT a copy built in the 60's, is just unreal. I agree that the Nordiska is not as good as it should and could be. The second best museum in Stockholm is Livrustkammaren (Royal Armoury) that you visited. I am a history nerd so I am a little disappointed that you didn't mention the bloody shirts of Gustavus Adolphus from the battle of Lutzen 1632, where he was killed, his heart that was was kept by his widowed Queen Maria Eleonora and the uniform of Karl XII from the siege of Fredrikshald where he was killed in 1718. But that is just me as a history nerd talking, I know that not all people care about such things. I do think though that you should have enjoyed the Swedish History Museum that has a vault underground called Guldrummet (Golden room). It has one of the most spectacular collections of gold artisan and art objects from the bronze age to the middle age/early renaissance. It is truly amazing. If you deside to return to Stockholm you should really consider a visit there.
Go ahead and pile on…we were completely ignorant going into the Vasa Museet which we also thought was incredible. We loved seeing the work being done to support the restoration effort and found all of it truly impressive. As you noted we truly enjoyed the Royal Armoury. We missed the bloody shirts…damn it! We may have moved too quickly through that section. We will add the Swedish History Museum to our list for next time. We are contemplating a return trip in October at which time we can check out the places you’ve recommended. Thank you for the thoughtful response to our videos and for watching it. We truly enjoyed our time in Stockholm.
As a swede I would like to thank you for this very mellow and honest reaction to Stockholm, our lovely capital. I particularly liked that you recognized something that I have thought a lot about myself, namely the fact that Swedish design has always been "slick and downlow", in lack of a better expression. Regardless of style period, romanesque, gothic, baroque or modern, Swedish design is always very clean and lacking of exaggerations, unlike the French or Italian for for example. You could explain it with Sweden being a very poor country up until the 19-20th C but I don't think that's the case, not in a whole at least. I think it is something very deeply rooted in the Swedish mentality and self awareness that shine trough in our style. The want to NOT stand out in public, the lack of self- promoting that borders to self-destruction, the extremely high level of want to be left alone (you tried public transport in Sweden, ever travelled that quiet before?), all this is expressions of our national character. That is why our gothic and baroque buildings seem so "bland" compared to our continental cousins that are almost overloaded with flamboyance. Think about how you are met and greeted in Paris and Rome compared to Stockholm? It all comes down to the different national characters (not genetically or biological, it is pure cultural behavior) that set the style for the whole country on all levels and aspects. Anyways, that is my belief at least. I hope that you found our country worth the trip and that you would like to return someday. Keep posting nice videos 😀
Thank you for your thoughtful explanation. We absolutely over Stockholm and we are contemplating a return trip in October to see more of Sweden and add Norway, Denmark, and possibly Iceland. As you heard in our videos (the second one dropped yesterday), we felt welcome and right at home. Thank you again for your kind and thoughtful words.
Nordiska is so much better than Fotografiska. Also note that Fotografiska is a private museum while most museums in Sweden are owned by the state or municipality and often work closely with academia.
Thanks for this info. We didn't realize this about the Fotografiska museum and we will keep that in mind for our next trip to Sweden (which Terri is advocating for in October 2025). And Terri is still very disappointed that we didn't go to the Nordiska when we were there in October.
As someone who grew up in and guides in Stockholm I have to partially agree with your child. Nordiska has an amazing building and very extensive collections, but they are displayed in a fairly traditional way where they just show tons of objects without much of a cohesive pedagogic thought. It's nice to have a museum with tons of stuff if you already know a little and want to see it, but if you're learning about nordic, handicraft, fashion and style from the beginning then Nordiska is a bit inaccessible. Stockholm has about 90 museums so you have to be a bit selective.
@@danvernier198 thanks for this! 90 museums! Wow! We definitely didn't have that many on our list. Another reason to go back and continue to explore all the amazing things that Stockholm has to offer. Thanks for taking the time to watch the video and comment. Happy holidays!
"Very European", being in Europe. 😂
Oh my goodness the things that come out of our mouths sometimes. It was the same feeling I had when I first went to Helsinki and it felt like I was in Paris. This is one of the reasons why we really need to travel…to see for ourselves and not rely on what we see in films or on TV or what we weren’t really taught in California schools. Thanks for watching. I hope we don’t come off too much like cringey Americans. (Terri)
Stockholm is built on 14 islands, 53 bridges. It's built between lake Mälaren and the Baltic sea. The archipelago east of Stockholm has 25000 islands.
We found this absolutely fascinating. It’s obvious we weren’t taught geography in California schools. So embarrassing sometimes.
The Ghostbusters theme in the background while you ate the licorice was spot-on since it looked like your souls left your bodies
That is hilarious. Btw our friend Jacqueline loved what we brought back to her.
The wasa ship is NOT a viking ship. The wasa ship is about 600 years after the viking era ended.
Thanks for the clarification. This was one of the things that prompted our discussion on being ‘idiots abroad.’ 🤦♀️🤦♂️
I'm happy to see that you and your kids enjoy Stockholm.. I do as well, live in north Sweden but visit Stockholm at least twice a year.
We can’t wait to go back and see more of Sweden than we did. It’s a beautiful country with very welcoming people.
I love that botanical garden !!!
It really is beautiful
Come to High Coust! It's really beautiful here! ❤️🤗
Would be very nice if u leave Stockholm, and come to High Coast! It's the absolutely best of Sweden! ❤️
Thank you! We will add it to our list (once we research what and where the High Coast is). We are definitely going back to see more of Sweden! 🇸🇪
Quintfecta
Thank you! Although funf-ecta has a nice ring to it. 😂💕
Thank you for a great video showcasing what "the Venice of the North" has to offer in ways of architecture, food and culture! Regarding our museums sometimes being dimly lit, it's just a precaution/safety measure to make sure fabrics (and artworks/handwritten inked documents) don't fade due to being exposed to light.
Thanks for the info on why museums are dimly lit. It’s helpful to know. Be sure to check out Friday’s video which is part 2 in Stockholm.
Lets go in Swedish: Lets go! For some reason Sweeds loves to incorporate a lot of English words or phrases in the spoken language! In Swedish it would be : Låt oss gå! But no person say it like that. The nearest would be! Ska vi gå (nu)? With question mark. Shall we go (now)? Also: Kom, så går vi!
Thank you! Terri likes to learn some of the language before we travel somewhere but didn’t have time to learn any Swedish for this trip (she worked on German for munch and Vienna). Thanks for the comment and for watching.
@ZekeandTerri Let's go! = Nu drar vi! = "Now pull we!" = Let us pull away (take our leave) now.
Very few people in a Swedish church? I wonder why. 😂
It was $10 a person to get in so that might have kept tourists out
@ZekeandTerri I don't think you understand the sarcasm. 80-85% of Swedes are atheists or agnostic.
If you are trying to insinuate that it's because "everybody is muslim" or something then it's not true. Less than 10% are muslim. It's just because most swedes are non-religious and only use the churches for concerts, funerals and some weddings.
I read somewhere that the percentage of swedes that attend church had actually increased, from 3.8% to a whopping 4.1%!
The churches in Gamla Stan are not going to be packed with locals, especially not during working hours.
It is lovely to watch the two of you enjoy my new hometown of Stockholm. As a former Palm Springs resident and art lover we have something in common.
How fortunate you are to now live in such an amazing place. Our youngest (who comes home from Stockholm in a week) would be envious. We can’t wait to go back. We love the shared connections with Palm Springs and art. You might enjoy some of our Tranquil Escapes if you like art. Thank you for watching!
@@ZekeandTerri I will check that out. Thanks
Prague in the European context was one of the cities most damaged by the Second World War - it was bombed by the Americans, Germans and Russians, and at the end of the war there was an uprising with the participation of tens of thousands of soldiers. Throughout history, Prague has been more damaged by wars than, for example, London. Prague has also experienced two devastating fires and several major floods. The fact that it has so many monuments is not related to various disasters and wars.
This is interesting. We will have to dig into this a bit more. Our initial research told us otherwise. We appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment.
this is just ridiculous claim that prague was most damaged by ww2, especially compared to like warsaw or other cities
Žijete v paralelním vesmíru. Praha pár ran schytala, to jistě, ale ve srovnání s jinými evropskými městy to byla legrace. Můžete se zeptat třeba v Drážďanech či Varšavě či v mnoha dalších.
you didn't see the VISION when you went to the magical cavern...it's supposed to be weird!
There’s weird and then there’s creepy. This was creepy. We are glad you enjoyed it and we loved going someplace you went and enjoyed. 😂
