There is an old point and click adventure game called Trilby's Notes that well predates Slender Man but has an almost identical main monster called the Tall Man. I've always believed Slender Man may have ripped off the design.

Honestly, Undertale is one of those games that suffers horridly when played with backsteaters. Be it a chat or friends, they just put pressure on the player to do certain things, or make them less focused on the game itself. It's always a shame to see that someone's paying less attention to what's going on and their choices because someone's actively talking in your ear. Spoilers, "subtle" nudging, comments on killing/not killing certain characters, all it does is diminish the player's experience. I sincerely hope you enjoyed what you got, but I'm sorry to see that your first playthrough was so weighed down :(
