E24: Kate's Own Perimenopause Journey: Unraveling the Mystery of Misdiagnosed Symptoms
In this episode, Kate is asked about her own personal perimenopause journey for the last episode in series 1.
Kate experienced heart palpitations, rashes, and vertigo only to be left without answers? She faced misdiagnosed symptoms of perimenopause, and was tested for so many things from autoimmune diseases to Ramsay Hunt syndrome, lack of iron, to so much more... and at no point were hormones tested. Kate recounts the journey of piecing together these symptoms and sheds light on the lack of awareness surrounding hormonal changes. Through relatable anecdotes, we advocate for improved recognition and understanding of these complex health issues within the medical community.
In this episode we also discuss why sleep is more than a necessity-it's a vital component of well-being during perimenopause. We discuss personal battles with sleep and the life-changing benefits of supplements like collagen and specially formulated magnesium complexes for managing stress, anxiety, and muscle relaxation. Emphasizing the role of self-care, from the indulgence of regular baths to the importance of maintaining a healthy gut, we inspire women to embrace their evolving selves and find empowerment in this pivotal chapter of life.

I’m 48 - have not had my period for 2 years and have been on bio identical hormones for a year which has been life changing and most recently vaginal estrogen. I thought I was loosing my mind for 3 years, depression, anxiety, uncertainly, no drive, brain fog, insomnia…it was terrible! 😞 I have always been fit and healthy but even I did not get through this easily. I tell all my friends the truth about perimenopause so they can understand they are not crazy! PS I am South African 😂

I LOVE seeing HOPE for the end of this emotional roller coaster & periods of rage, flaky & dry peeling skin WITH painful ACNE, and very heavy periods, so much so that Im having to get iron infusions because my iron was almost fatally low, and even as a nurse, I WAS CLUELESS, SO PLEASE LADIES GET YOUR LABS TAKEN! I tried the health and her perimenopause supplement and it made me breathless. Not sure what was in it that triggered that response. I’m now taking centrum women multivitamins and it’s good but I’m needing something more. This video has definitely helped me see what I need. Thank you

Do you think even doing one or 2 affirmations is helpful and it's ok for these to change each day? I know reframing the tired one will help me!
Hi Stephanie, affirmations need to be real and authentic so I would suggest that you focus on reframing and seeing what you 'need' that day. If it's the same one then no problem. If it's something different then why not? It's about helping yourself that day. You can say one, or several, repeat them in the morning several times and then repeat again throughout the day. I love affirmations cards for this as you can carry them round and think about them as you go about your day. Hope this helps! Kate x
