11 episodes later, this same kid is pulling off the most insane stunts imaginable trying to not get killed by a psychotic skating god. I love this series.

This scene was somehow the most hype and terrifying crap I've ever witnessed. Within, like, 3 minutes of screen time, you have Adam taunting Langa, Langa being fed up with it and almost causing both of them to crash, Adam managing to do a 180 on a turn, Langa freaking jumping over it without so much as flinching, Adam staying perfectly still (in the middle of the race, mind you) to process what just happened, and then him going absolutely *feral* to catch up to Langa... ...so far, definitely looking to be anime of the year for me.

i feel reki so much in this clip man. i had this really close friend back in middle school and we both really loved drawing. we both joined art competitions at school and stuff but this friend of mine was insanely good at it, like their progress at improving was really fast and impressive. by highschool, my passion for art was gone. now they have their own art accounts and they also make short animations too meanwhile i haven't picked up a pencil to draw for a few years now 🥲🥲

I haven't watched this show ever since it first came out but now i'm revisiting it (specifically episode 7) because I am currently dealing with a similar conflict with my close friend. The conflict of "Not being a good match anymore" because of differing philosophies. Although i share the same insecurities as Reki it wasn't related to our argument. However recently my family friend started painting recently and now it's going to be displayed in an event and this crushed me. It crushed me because all my life i've been practising drawing and painting in hopes of getting it in a gallery but I realised no matter how hard I tried I could never be a prodigy artist nor get a gallery. My close friend also loves to draw and every time they show or talk to me about it deep down it hurts me in a way like how Reki feels. It felt like no matter how much i sacrificed and tried i was never good enough to compete. Anyways the way they were able to mend their relationship later on gives me hope and comfort that everything will work out between me and my close friend, that even though it was broken it can be fixed.

It's not that Reki is insecure of Langa's skills. He's heartbroken because he knows that if Langa continues on aiming to best ADAM, he'll be left behind. Reki's self-aware enough to know that he's not as good as the rest of the team. He practiced hard to reach the point he was at. That's why he thinks he'll never be able to catch up, and then he'll end up alone again. It's really interesting how the series addressed this and how he and Langa reconciled.

It’s sad because Reki feels like he’s being left behind and betrayed by Langa, he has skateboarded for such a long time and he taught Langa but Langa is exceptionally good at skateboarding and Reki can’t keep up with him.
