Any suggestions on how to do that in larger scale? Say a couple hundred lavender plants. That could be thousands of stems to cut by hand.

Strange i did same but mine turned black in potting mix 40% soil 20% cow compost 20% sand and 40% coco peat or when i placed in just cocopeat. I think my soil is well draining but mine keep turning black even when i cover with plastic bag. Can't figure out why all cuttings fail like this. I did sterilize my soil in sunlight too and i cut below node. The dieback begins within a week and sometimes within a day from top or bottom. The rose is damask rose and grows easily from cuttings but not for me. Stems are not turning yellow so i don't think its over-watering however leaves turn crispy if left on cuttings.

Hi Em! Do the stems grow back once cut off? I just bought a mature mint plant and don't know if I should clip the leaves from the stem or just clip off the stem. I don't want to injure the plant or do something wrong that makes it take a long time to recover and re-grow the leaves. Cheers from New Mexico.

Why is it that I love topiary so much when in effect it is the botanic equivalent of keeping animals in zoos and worse - of making animals conform to our own needs and requirements? It's a mutilation of plants!
