I've been doing the same thing. No idea what possesed modern Yamaha to come up with that additional gawdy bracket system for their toms. If anything the overtone sound and additional resonance is too much. Also a pain to get them in/out of a drum case, and if you buy the next size bigger case, the case is too big for the drum and the drum moves around in there unsecured. Between stupid ideas for trying to fix something that wasn't defective, and then moving their manufacturing to China using cheap flimsy lightweight metal hoops on Stage Custom series........ Yamaha is no longer what it once was.

I had a maple kit once by Peavey, and the rims were glued to the shells, and the shells didnt have holes at all in them.

I needed to drill several holes to add the leg brackets to convert a 14" hanging tom to a floor tom, and this really helped! I was able to drill out all of the holes without doing any extra damage to the shell. Unfortunately, I've drilled holes in the past to other drum shells before seeing this video, and the end result wasn't so pretty (splintering and busting of the inner plies).

Anybody can wrap a 12 inch drum that way, show us how well it works on a big 24 inch bass drum, that's where you really get alignment problems.

so basically drill into your finger...yeah that sounds intelligent and safe.

Love the updates. But why is the drum almost always off camera by about 1/4 of the screen? Centering on the camera would have been much better.

Magnus your drum wrap is thin orange peel finish rubbish ,. standard drum wrap is .45 mil . your drum wrap is garbage and so thin its translucent with no solid backing , so you can see the shell though it . don't buy from this guy . he sent me a delaminating piece of rubbish and doesn't answer emails if you have a complaint

Wallopus wrap is rubbish . it looks nothing like it does on his web site I paid $76.00 for a piece of delaminating wrap that was so thin it was translucent

I placed an order back in October of 2021 and here it is February of 2022 and I still have not received my order. I contacted you in November, and you said the order was being shipped out that week. I again, contacted you in December and you said you were catching up on my order which contradicted your original statement. I have since contacted you 3 more times and now you have stopped responding. I recommend you stay away from walopus!

Very good quality wrap and prices! Tons of finishes to choose from. I have 3 snare drums with walopus wrap and just ordered a complete set of wrap from them for my beater/practice kit. The wrap for bass drums is one solid piece which isn't easy to find from other companies. He's absolutely right...They really will post your drum on the site if you send them pics. Walopus is great!! 👍

What did you end up naming this wrap?

Wouldn’t the main reason for drum gaskets be to keep the drum from vibrating against the metal hardware and scratching the finish?

This was the first result on my Google search "cut angle on drum shell", but this seems like the wrong way to do it. Rotating it by hand, really? How can you ensure a consistent angle?

So is this the kind of wrap that costs often time more than the whole drum kit?

I recommend Woodglut to every beginner and not only.

I have done very similar with Woodglut designs.

I know Woodglut has the best woodworking plans.

The sparkle on these have the same look as the sparkle wraps you see on entry level kits like the Tama Superstars. I thought they would be a bit more glittery, but it's very subtle.

Did you say 8.5 divided in two = 4.75 ? That’ll be why it doesn’t look ‘in the middle” then.

Do you have a sample of what Ludwig Evolution Series uses for their blue sparkle ? I'm patching up a drum from that series, important that it matches perfectly. Or if you don't carry a match, can you tell me where to buy or the company Ludwig bought their wrap from ?

Very disappointed in their service and quality. Much better options out there. Took them over a week just to ship samples that cost $10 of the very poor quality and dull resolution wraps. Glad I didn't order with them.
