I disagree with the way this is all dealt with. The bottom line is this is an addiction which means it is a choice. Choices are not somethings that can not be changed or corrected. Choices are just that a choice. People choose to use instead of seeking mental health help. People choose to use because they want to mask emotional or physical pain. People choose to use because it feels good. Its not my problem just like me overeating and being obese is not your problem. People dont line up to cook for me, buy my food, house me and make excuses for me. We all have choices in our lives and should have to live with them until we decide to do better.

✨Hopelessness and helplessness has created the drug epidemic! Homelessness since this video was made, has become a real epidemic across North America. The Economy has everything to do with this mess . Allowing outrageous price increases on food goods and services . A result of unsubstantiated inflation on housing has made it impossible to recover from the effects that the Covid pandemic created. It seems like everyone in business has followed suit. What we really need today is “ actuarial accounting “ on all goods and real estate. That is calculating exactly what it the product costs to make it and get it to market . We need caps in the amount of profit that can be applied above the actuarial cost . That means a real evaluation of what the property is really worth!!! Not what the market can bare. It has been a cash grab that has effected the whole continent, GREED on MASS . So if your one of those who can’t understand survival mode , you have been blessed. If your in business and measuring your success on others poverty , your success is through your greed and is directly responsible for the sufferings of all walks of life. Wake up ! You will be held accountable by a higher power! Cause and effect , is your greed the cause of this effect !? What kind of future and legacy are you leaving behind.? What part did you play in this story ? Are you one of those property owners that jumped on doubling or tripling the rent on your property? This wasn’t Covid that did this !This has been the result of greed and lack of “actuarial accounting “ and price controls and the governments that are delinquent in doing the job for all the people not the select few . This homelessness is the result of government corruption that refuses to , create profit caps on goods , services and real estate! What can you do ? Speak out , Boycott inflated prices and demand fair practices and pricing on all products , goods , services and housing . Sign petitions write to your representatives!!! Government is at the helm and needs to stop being influenced by corporate greed! ✨🌲🦶🏿🌳🧚‍♀️🌲🐕‍🦺😊🕊️✨

Since I was too afraid of Drugs myself( just some weed and a ittle Hash) . So, Alcohol became my thing. By the late 80's early 90's, I could hold more than my share, example, on at least a few occassions i could Drink at least 8-9 34oz beers known as "Schooners". While Beer was my main choice, I went for shooters of Jack Daniels, Wild Turkey, Scnapps, Scotch, 7up and Gin. Never Tequila, just didnt think of it. Had problems blacked out, up all night till next morning, would go to a 7eleven, grab a 6pack prayed and went to a few AA mtgs. Stopped at only 45. Am 70+ now. Feel better overall , also, dont smoke, still dont eat very healthy, just less. Any kind of Addiction, including Food, is hard to break. Our society( pretty much world wide). Is just so Harsh. Severe Economic downturns, sudden loss of good paying jobs, domestic abuse, bad storms, etc, hey, life happens, we can develop good overall habits, starting early in life, but family break ups and anything in our immediate enviornments can sometimes spiral out of control, 25 yrs not drinking, my younger Brother, 20 years, hes 68. We eventually lost our mom to Alcohol in 2003. She was 74. Quick Brain burst. Best of luck to anyone trying to beat any kind of Addictions. Am here in Long Beach, CA. Take care everyone, have a great and safe summer

A type 2 diabetic can "stop using insulin if they want to". Just lean on it for a bit whilst in a treatment centre. Learn, in that treatment centre, how to use self-control to manage your diet. Self-control to manage your blood sugar and weight. And, once you have learnt those skills, wean off insulin. Control your blood sugar through diet. Insulin was never supposed to be a crutch that allows you to continue with your food addiction forever and get out of the negative consequences. (Just a little something for those who are against opiate replacement as a treatment option long term.)

According to addiction and trauma expert Dr Gabor Maté, addiction is NOT a disease, neither is it genetic, but due to childhood trauma and stress and social dislocation endemic to systems of inequality and injustice. In his book "In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts" he tells real-life stories from his 12-year-work at Vancouver´s Downtown Eastside, to show that all addictions originate in trauma and emotional loss. So, the question is not: "why the addiction, but why the pain", meaning that we need a trauma- inforned society resulting in a much more compassionate view on ALL addictions, including drug addiction. "Addiction begins with solving a problem, the problem of human pain, emotional pain" "By recognizing addiction as a cry for help, we shift from judgment and blame to empathy and understanding. It allows us to approach individuals with compassion and seek to address the root causes of their addictive behaviors rather than solely focusing on the symptoms." “It is impossible to understand addiction without asking what relief the addict finds, or hopes to find, in the drug or the addictive behaviour.”

NIMBYism is so deep rooted in societies. I got my Abitur 1997. And I remember my mother being totally angry, because it became known that a kid from our village bought drugs at school. She asked me, if we had drugs at our school. I was typical teen and told her. Sure, which one shall I get for you? Then she was beside herself with worry. Truth was, there were all these drugs at school or at central station and I knew where they sold what. Still, I was trauma informed as well as having addiction and substance abuse in my family. I avoided substances starting with alcohol completely. Not having had help for my own trauma before I could chose to do that myself, through me into a long, long eating disorder. So there is no "being safe" when you've got an unhealed trauma. It will find a way to damage you and your life. I have healed from all of it, but I've lost many friends.

I first tried smoking Cannabis at the young age of 15yrs old, way way back in the last century when the police were still throwing people in a steel cage for simply changing how you felt and thought. So the people of Canada who believed that the Laws were unjust fought for nearly 30yrs. by continuing to grow and sell BootLegged Cannabis with the sole purpose of overThrowing/overGrowing the Federal Government. We finally got the sale and consumption of Cannabis here in Canada legalized which has not only saved the justice system an unimaginable amount of finances but lets not forget about the unimaginable amount of tax dollars now from the sales of Cannabis. Now we should reinvesting all those unimaginable savings and put them back directly into a different and new form of treatment in Canada which shouldn’t be to difficult considering the amount of savings now and newly available. If we then legalized all illegal substances, the criminal aspect would disappear, overdose deaths would serious reduce and all those unimaginable savings from the justice system, health system and the taxes from legalized drug sales could go directly back into the future of Canada and a new cutting edge form of drug treatment. “Being a drug user doesn’t kill, the life style of being a drug user kills”

It's sad that their brains crave a living death more than life. That's how you know something is seriously wrong in addiction. That way of thinking is literally the opposite of survival. Your brain is tricked into falsely associating drugs with your autonomic "survival" response. Dopamine is a liar.
