Taking a look through youtube, it seems like one other person had this idea as well. Hopefully I can bring something new to the table!

A discord user called "bridge" gave me the idea for the piece

While writing the fugue, I felt like the C# minor tonality wasn't prepared nearly well enough without the D#. Looking back, I could probably have done without it. ------------------------------------------------------ I've taken a look through your channel and discovered a recent fugue also in F# minor- Nice work! The triple fugue texture really shines.

Here's my whole workflow: - I do all the composition in musescore. It's quite intuitive to use if you are familiar with music notation, though do be warned it has some performance issues. - I export the score to a midi file and do some editing in midieditor to make things look nicer. - I record the midi playback in two applications: piano from above to emphasise melodies, and MAMPlayer to give an impression of the overall texture. OBS is useful for recording. - I usually do editing with openshot, but it's bad at adding captions so I used canva in this occasion.

@@dystopia-user181 the playback sounds really fire, that's why i asked what type of program are you using. I'm using musescore as well. so you're playing it on midi keyboard or whatever it is (electronic piano ig?) and changing the playback sound using it? did i get it right? i've heard that someone is using Audacity and etc

I add the notes directly in the score. Midi imports in musescore tend to mess a lot of things up since the program can't do much more than guess how the midi file should be notated. Programming notes directly also gives the advantage of having more control over the dynamics (especially single-note crescendos) and special effects (e.g. Tremolos, rolls, trills, glissandi, and harmonics are all in this thing and not possible with midi only. It's worth noting that accurate tuplets aren't available using midi either)

Sorry, forgot to reply. I just don't think this is something worth making a video over as it basically sums up to "download musescore, a bunch of midi visualisation tools, something to convert pdfs to images, and a video editor". I'm still refining my workflow on the musescore part as there are certain musescore instruments whose sounds I really dislike (like the solo violin) and I'm trying to use muse fx to even out the rougher parts of musesounds.

Relistening to the tutti section again... I think it has more do to with musescore being weird and playing some of the notes slightly offbeat. (I'll definitely figure out how I can fix this)

@@dystopia-user181 yeah that would make sense, musescore is a bit special sometimes

It's very much indebted to beethoven (The sparse texture from variation 4 of the sonata no 12, and the tremolos are commonplace in his later sonatas)

It's certainly not impossible to play in the musical sense - It's apparently a reference (verbatim) to a homestuck page.

The moving parts are more an artefact of how I like to orchestrate- I did try my best to maintain fidelity to the original sound though. Some of the weirder moving parts in the transcription correspond to synth drones in the original. I'm currently working on transcribing Sarabande, but I'm bogged down by other musical projects I want to finish (and real life stuff!)

Thanks! It would perhaps be immoral not to refer to Beethoven's Sonata no 32 which "inspired" much of the slow variations (I've just been listening to it too much recently and it found its way here)
