I am from the South. I knew I was old when a young coworker called me "Miss (my name)". This is a sign of respect for your elders down here. Then, two weeks later, just to drive the point home, a few of my coworkers and I were just chatting at break. The subject of ages came up. A young coworker asked me how old I was. When I replied 57, he blurted out, "Holy shit!" After we all stopped laughing enough to speak, with him red-faced, I told him, "Honey, "holy shit" is not a good response when a lady tells you her age". So there we were laughing again. He tried to recover. "I meant you don't look 57". Oh he didn't know I can play the dozens. "Honey, don't put icing on that poop now. It won't help". We almost didn't make it back to work in time, we were howling with laughter.

In high school, not only did we have open campus, but there was a smoking section. The local gas station would sell you smokes, no matter how young. 25 cents a pack. I grew up in a tiny town, and when I say all us high schoolers were getting high, I mean it. Like, in cliques at school, but everyone partied together at night. Who knew THOSE were the golden years?🤘

We had 2 smoke breaks/day besides lunch that you could go out to smoke on. We also had our rifles in the back window of our truck in the parking lot!

I'm so old my high school had a smoking room. And you could smoke anywhere outside the school while still on school grounds.
