Hey, good to hear from you again! 😃 I believe your curls need more moisture than mine, so if you do try them, I'm certain you will need something more moisturizing under the Spiralicious.

Sorry to hear that, but not entirely surprised. My recommendation for a quality gel that is good in humidity and is more moisturizing would be the Ouidad Advanced Climate Control (hard hold).

Thanks for sharing your experience. Unfortunately, you are not alone. I definitely had a build up feeling for this video (and many others have said the same thing). I did go in very very light handed with just the mousse, and I did get pretty good results, without much of a producty feeling. But I don't think it's very user friendly. Fornthe sake of my channel, and experimenting, I would have returned it as well. I did returned the Root Boost Spray.

I understand. Everyone has different needs for their curls. I believe the Rocking Ringlets may provide more moisture than the Gelebration Spray, so that may be something to consider.

Yes, if you have more dry, hair these particular products (the ones that I tried today) would probably not be best. Personally, I would like to try more from this brand.

I saw at a local Ulta Beauty at Target that they also have glossy packaging- I guess it was just a packaging issue or something. I will trust the different packaging in this case.

My idea for the Troubleshooting Curls Series would be to address general curly hair issues (frizz, limp curls, curls not lasting, etc.) I could have him do my hair, but I'm not sure I can convince him to do that at this point. He is kind of camera shy. At this point I'm just hoping he will agree to randomly pick out some products for me. 😄 Thank you for all your suggestions!

Yes! I want to do another one of these video, and had planned to this fall. However, my hair has not needed nearly as much protein this summer. I have a video from last year, comparing three protein treatments. th-cam.com/video/8AwUeR-2LNk/w-d-xo.html But I would like to do another addition to that. Maybe winter or spring of 2025. Sorry it probably won't be sooner, but it takes a while to try three different protein treatments because I have to space them out.

Someone else has suggested that I do the product stash with a twist, so I think I will probably go ahead with that.

@@lifeoffinecurls I have tried the flexi jelly on my hair and I just haven’t found the right combo to make it work for me. I have used that conditioner under it but as a rinse out. I’ll try it as a leave in and see what I get.

You should be able to use any shampoo and conditioner. By that I mean, if I clarify my hair every 3-4 washes, and the other times I use a more gentle moisturizing shampoo. I can't see any reason why you couldn't use these stylers with either of those options. I hope this helps. 🙂

That's great! I'm so glad you like how it works for your hair. I haven't tried the volume shampoo and conditioner, but I really like the Anti-Frizz shampoo and conditioner, as well as Scalp Recipe shampoo/scrub shampoo and conditioner.

@@lifeoffinecurls For some reason I never had much luck with those other shampoos and conditioners. Aside from the volume shampoo I feel like their co-wash does a better job cleansing my scalp. Have you tried the co-wash?

No, I haven't, but I have heard it's pretty good. After some trial and error, I have found that I like using a cowash as my first cleanse, followed by regular shampoo. Using it that way, it helps to soften, detangle, and lift a little dirt. I don't enjoy using a cowash as my sole cleanser though.

It's been a while since I've used this product. But from what I remember, it does moisturize my curls. If your hair is high porosity (mine is med), you may need something moisturizing to go under it, but maybe not.

@@lifeoffinecurls thanks for the feedback! i'm thinking of using it as a layer with a moisturizing leave in so definitely not thinking it will be good enough by itself (i know my hair enough to know that lol). i tried using mousse but that gives a bit of a cast so i was looking for other options!

Everyone's needs are different, but I have found what works best for me, which is that I usually wash my hair twice a week. Based on that, I generally clarify about every 3-4 washes. And I only chelate my hair on an as needed basis (when clarifying doesn't work). I don't always deep condition when I clarify, but I do sometimes. I will make a video explaining my process and logic in my Char With Me series in Sept. I've had a lot of questions on this recently so I feel like it would be easier to explain through another video. No, anyone can use it. Bond building can benefit any hair type. If you hair isn't very damaged you may not see a dramatic change, but I liked it as a well balanced deep conditioner.

I wanted to do another protein video comparison this year, but my hair just not been feeling like it needs it lately. I can still use protein in my stylers and in some washay products, but not really a full treatment every six weeks (or so) for 3 different protein treatments. Maybe next year. I did use the Fenty Comeback Kid recently, a couple times.

Is it possible for you to go in with even less product? Or maybe try micro plopping after you applied the product and before you diffuse. I understand that you may have already been supper minimal in the first place; and in that case, this product just may not work for your hair. I know that can be a bummer to hear, and you may be frustrated having spent the money on the product.

@@lifeoffinecurls I did both of those things. I do have high porosity hair so maybe that’s the difference. But that’s why we need to try it. I got mine as a sample in curls monthly so no harm 😃

As far as reviewing the Ouidad Advanced Climate Control (in the red bottle), I did do a review on that back in Aug 2022. It was a side-by-side compared with another gel. I also looked at how both the gels held up in the summer and the winter months. It's been so long since I used these products that I don't remember a lot about them (I gave them away). I personally, generally use a gel first followed by a mousse. I have switched this order before, but not often. It's basically a personal preference. So feel free to play around with it, and see what you like best.

Lol, I was just thinking about the Vital Curl Mousse the other day, and I haven't thought of or used that since I emptied it. 🙂

I don't have a real schedule for when I deep condition/use a mask. I pretty much go on what may hair feels and how the curls are acting. This summer I have been clarifying about every 3-4 washes (and I wash about 2 times a week), then I use an old discontinued mask that is very moisturizing and has some protein. The quirk is, I don't leave it in for the suggested 15-20 minutes. Instead, I use it more as a regular rinse out conditioner; leaving it in for only 2-3 minutes. I'm mainly doing this just to use it up. It wouldn't be necessary for me to use a deep conditioner/mask that often otherwise. Basically, I would suggest not to worry about deep conditioning on a schedule, but rather base if off how your hair feels. If it feels dry and brittle, you may need a moisturizing deep conditioner. If your hair feels limp and your curls are stretched out, you could probably use a protein mask or maybe even a protein treatment. Your hair doesn't have to be these extremes, but if you know what your hair ideally feels like, then you can hopefully notice and correct with the best treatment before it becomes extreme. Hopefully this helps.

Ty! Did you know that Amazon is now selling a Bounce Curl Brush dupe? As low as $3.99. Very surprised! I recently bought the Scrunch It Brush. They are amazing! They just redesigned them and have them on sale for $12xx when you buy both. It gave me so much volume and definition. I am assuming that the volume came from the fact that the brush is barrel shaped. Not sure if that's the reason. But was pleased with the outcome. Blessings!

​@simplyamandashomesteadsampler I knew that there were knock off Bounce Curl brushes on Amazon, but I didn't know what they were selling for. For a while I had been interested in the Scrunch It brush. But I fell into the Bounce Curl craze 🤪 and now that I have that one, feel like I don't need anymore. I still use my Tangle Teezer and the Denman some, but I have a Briogeo vegan boar bristle brush that I never use anymore.

Occasionally, I will brush a gel in, but it's not something I do often. I could probably totally do it with the Liquid Effects bc it is so runny.
