And yet there are quite a few who have bought a replacement EV, and those who are still on their first and love it. There will be a wide spectrum in this, as in everything. An equilibrium will be reached. As EVs become cheaper and gas and diesel becomes more expensive, that equilibrium will shift towards EV. But there will still be some applications for ICE. No one alive today is going to see the total demise of oil gas or diesel. No one.

I have a Tesla Y. I will never return to an ICE car or a hybrid. I am very fond of my wallet and love the operational and maintenance savings I get from a BEV. Have owned a BEV for 2 years now and it has cost very little in maintenance and operational costs. Admittedly its a Tesla with a back up charging network unlike the rest. My only complaint is that my wife has taken the car over and I struggle to get a turn at driving. Simplicity always wins and an ICE engine is so complex compared to an electric engine. I live in Canada where its really cold. The BEV loves the cold and sticks to the road far better than any ICE car.

Maybe all the EV fanbois should wake up, and also keep an eye on international news. Porsche for example is working, and already started testing synthetic fuel aka efuel and aims to put it on sale by 2030. Electric cars might be OK in cities and some urban areas, but rural areas you can forget EVs. The only people I know talking positive about EVs are the ones barely doing 1000mls a month; I do 2x as much and pre C19 I used to do up to 3000mls a month. Everyone I know who does long road trips a few times a year, got rid of their EVs and went hybrid. EV mode in the city, but for long distance they have the petrol engine and they don't have to make up to 3hr stops to get the car charged.

Maybe all this Government involvement into the EV Push is all just a Inconvient LIE. Why not, as the Govt does not keep to a financial budget so they don't care what the Cost is or how many issues they have. The Dems whan to claim they are Green and are Saving the World, don't look behind the curtain. If you look under the lies.....this is your Govt at work, working to keep you broke. ICE cars are actually pretty simple and easy to fix if you know how to read : - ) alas I have concluded most EV owners don't know how to read. Especially a Car Contract ! Insurance Contract, or any P&E statement. As if they did EV owners would see the math and know its not Financially a wize decision which is what our Green Govt Does Best. Besides all those issues EVs also contribute more carbon into the atmosphere than a ICE car over its life , especially if the battery gets changed !!

That power to charge EV’s is cleaner than the power delivered by an ICE. Read actual emissions reports and standards. The energy is also utilized much more efficiently. The traditional ICE runs at about 25% efficiency overall. EV’s run at 80% all day. As for mining you should research all the mines opening in Europe and North America. They do not use child labor. On top of this EV’s are now having their batteries recycled utilizing those minerals again and again. This is of course after the batteries have been used in the electric grid for 5-10 years for stabilization. Do some research

@@andrewday3206 the power to charge them still has to come from the main grid, which in most cases are powered by coal burning power plants. So more demand on the grid equals more burning of coal. Which pollutes far more than ICEs. Unless we move to nuclear power which is much cleaner. Plus all those new mines won’t be producing enough to meet demand for years.

@@thomaslafferty8382 Coal produces only 22% of the electricity produced! Coal is by far the dirtiest and actual break even with an ICE powered vehicle. The rest of the grid is far cleaner than ICE. Natural gas is about 2/5 of the grid’s energy supply. Coal, nuclear and renewables all make up about 1/5 of the grid. Obviously renewables being the cheapest source of electricity are seeing the fastest growth rates. The issue of intermittency is also solvable without batteries. As for mines taking time companies do not waste time just to lose profits. The expansions in North America and Europe have been very quick and ramping up.

(Retired in 2018 from a Fortune 100 electric company with generation, transmission, and retail facilities.) This video, like nearly all those about EVs, misses the boulder in the road: the spectacular time required to ramp up to the new demands. It is all well and good to put in charging stations, but where does the electricity come from and how does it get there? Last year USA Facts concluded "The US would need to produce 20-50% more electricity annually if all cars were electric vehicles." It didn't sound too bad to them... just turn up the knob a bit, yes? No. Bulk electric power falls into one of two categories: dispatchable (available on demand) or non-dispatchable (available when everything is in its favor). Nuclear, natural gas, coal, and geothermal are dispatchable; wind, solar, and hydro (depends on rainfall) are not. Presently, about 80% of the electricity in the US is dispatchable. Storage makes non-dispatchable electricity dispatchable within the storage limits but it can't be relied on during major freezing events; the storage is never going to be that large because of the astronomical cost for very occasional returns. From there, it gets really gnarly. Nuclear is dispatchable, but does not react quickly; give it a day to ramp up and you can use its output for as long as you need. During that day you should have alternate sources. This is getting long, and I have not covered the biggest sticking point: time from "go" to "turn it on." High voltage transmission lines are the worst of these. They require acquisition of right-of-way over hundreds of miles of land. 10 years is optimistic; 15 years for just that vital prerequisite is typical. Sometimes it simply can't be done, setting the project back years. Once the contracts are signed the materials can be ordered. Finally, once generation facilities are constructed they have to be FERC approved before they can be connected to the grid. Fully 1/4 of generation facilities are never connected; the applications are withdrawn and the sites are left to nature. I'm in my 70s now, and am glad not to be part of the support system (on call 24/7/365 for 34 years). I fear for those who will work in the Brave New World of EVs.

In my lifetime, coaxial cable was run to every house in the 80s. And more recently fiber optic cable has replaced it. At least everywhere but the last 50 or so feet. Thousands of cell phone towers were constructed for cellular service. This won't be any different. The cost of solar panels and batteries goes down every year. More and more will install these at home. There are a lot of companies that make portable nuclear reactors. There won't be a single solution. It will be an aggregate of many solutions.

Isn't this is a history? China has been the world's biggest vehicle manufacturer since 2008 and has held that position for 15 years already! This year China made over 30 million units. Less than 10 million were exported leaving over 20 million units to be consumed domestically. The next runner-up US makes only about 12 million units each year! Manufacturers like VW, BMW, Mercedes and Porsche make their annual profit up to 40% from the Chinese market alone. May be it is the world car makers taking over China instead.

GM, GE, Ford, United Airlines, etc. are all management relics.

In my view EV is a lost cause. Nature of mater, the physics of it will not allow it to be as efficient as the fuel caring cars because of the energy density of each. Also, the fuel station has a tank, which compared with necessary investment in to the power lines is a inexpensive and just local solution where if demand will required it is easy to bring a tanker with a fuel more often, while with EV it requires to change size or add cables. Another words, EV are uneconomical and wasteful.

People are realizing how big of a scam EV cars really are. It would be different if the batteries were not made from strip mining using enormous diesel machines or the recharging process didn't place a strain on the power grid and peoples pay check. No worries though as I am sure the US government will bail them out again with tax payer money even though its the tax payers that are the consumers not wanting to buy their junk. Personally, I don't even park next to an EV because of the fire hazard of these fully electrical cars.
