Barbican Quartet: Joy Lisney 'C'est l'extase'
Barbican Quartet play: Joy Lisney 'C'est l'extase'
We were so happy that our friend and wonderful cellist, composer and conductor Joy Lisney agreed to write us this little gem. 'C'est L'extase' is based on a poem by Paul Verlaine and was written on the theme of love for the Barbican Quartet in 2022, and first performed by the Barbican Quartet at Richmondshire Concerts on the 12th of April 2023.

I havent heard more convincing Mozart since the Hagen Q.recordings 30 years ago - and thats not for want of trying. So much harder to get right than Beethoven and Haydn! Marvrllous recording that captures the timbre of each instrument by the way.
