to even TURN OVER and we all know that TURTLES HATE BEING UPSIDE DOWN!! Now we also have heard that Southern folks like to EAT these turtles, which we don't understand at all!!! If and when we come south to catch any - if we decide to bring any home, we set up a habitat and keep them the way they live in the wild. They are NOT TOYS!!! They are living God's creatures and deserve to be treated so. I hope y'all let it go!

Well now, I do realize that Little Michael is just a very young man and the title above is COMPLETELY wrong because this child knows NOTHING about soft shell turtles. You see, up here in Maryland we APPRECIATE these animals and when we go to Alabama to catch them - it's not to TORTURE them in a net and tease them with food - which SHOULD BE FED IN WATER!! I think Bill Waddell's father was my grandfather's (Maurice) 1st cousin. My grandmother Eva Waddell taught school in Fair Bluff and my grandfather, Maurice was the town dentist.

I think this might have been a little earlier than 1957-58. I definitely would have been there (at the church for Loyalty Sunday) then, and would have been about the same age as those little boys running around. However, I didn't recognize any of them. Thanks for posting that, though. I did recognize many of the people.
