I don't have that car. The head unit and camera aren't Fiat products.

No issues. You can use wireless carplay though I tend not to. Wireless carplay is for low end units as it passes the hard work to your phone and the head unit just acts as a display. The head unit can handle music playback and navigation on its own.

It's still working fine, occasionally it gets a bit mud splattered.

Yep. I literally spent a weekend trying to go with the boot handle and gaiter. In the end it was a revelation realising it would be so much easier going for the bumper and what I was trying to get across in the video. Don't go for the handle even though it seems obvious as it's in the middle. The bumper is just so much easier. With hindsight I might have gone for a camera I could drill and fit into the bumper.

@@so-teq6142 that’s precisely what I’ve done a few times. A ball camera, just pushes in like a parking sensor.

The error is because the car is having trouble talking to the unit I believe. Mine worked fine. Does it have a hidden menu like the Xtrons unit?

You don't notice as there are also tweeters at a high level. You just hear, "sound." In fact, I've now done the rears too. All I hear is left/right stereo effects but the sound is coming from everywhere. Usually you just have speakers placed in front of you. Here, it's sound all around you.

@@so-teq6142 Thats likely due to timing. For the speakers to sound like they are in front of you. The timing correction needs to be set. The real problem is wasting the 15 watts rms that unit makes on 2 pairs of tweeters and mids..

The stock tweeters? They were replaced by Alpine SXE-1006TW tweeters in another video I did. th-cam.com/video/Wrb6ntKvoxY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=JWp_BYJMri0pJ8bW Factory speakers are cheap and nasty, they tend to match the head unit and together make a "vaguely acceptable sound" but they are the cheapest the manufacturer could get away with. I took the tweeters out, put them on Facebook marketplace for £10 for the pair, no one was interested so I eventually just threw them in the bin.

You can get a bass speaker that fits under the drivers seat. The Abarth seems to have it. They are on ebay and it's possible to improve it further. Or there's an aftermarket one that might fit under there. It's something I've looked at. A powered sub is probably the biggest single change you will make to your sound.

@@kneh39 If you look under the car behind the bumper in the centre, you will see where other cables also head into the car. There's a large rubber grommet they pass through. I ran it alongside those.

Thanks for a really helpful video, I did mine this week but being a glutton for punishment I put mine on the hatch handle, took me hours and hours to do but I like to make everything look as factory as possible including binding the wiring with cloth tape etc. I just cut the RCA off one end of the supplied cable and then replaced it later in the process, getting the wire through the rubber sleeve and down the frame on the side of window was still difficult, used thin welding wire to pull them through. The power lead isn't long enough to reach the lower area so I added an extension cable and it was this that I pushed though the sleeve then added terminals later to connect it. The hatch handle needed to be modified to accommodate the camera cable by adding grooves for it to sit in, there is a rectangular hole that the cables can exit through already in the hatch. To avoid having to remove the radio when fitting the main unit I added a RCA cable to extend the connection on the loom, this meant I could connect the camera at my leisure with a connection near the sill area.

@@rossocorsahf I had cut the end off the cable and used a 1mm copper lighting cable with the insulation removed to try and fish through the sleeve. It wasn't happening for me and I spent about an hour trying to do it. In the end I decided it wasn't worth all the effort and went for the bumper. I've just done the rear speakers. I'll upload the video at some point.

Aside from the rear, there's a micro SD card slot in the front lower left.

@@so-teq6142 yes I understand. But are you able to use original USB port?

@@jaykish2 Mine stopped working on the previous Fiat Factory head unit. It charged what was plugged into it but didn't play MP3's. It was one of the reasons why I upgraded. That and the old Fiat Head Unit wouldn't play FLAC files from USB drives.
