$20 DIY Digital Nut Height Gauge w Jason Burns
มุมมอง 2.2Kปีที่แล้ว
Hey, this is part of our weekly series of AMA's on my patreon. This week we talked with Jason Burns of Burns Banjos about how to set up both open back and resonator banjos. It was a good long in depth look at the subject and we were at it for a couple of hours. I don't know no nothing about banjos, so I asked a ton of questions. During our time together Jason showed off a modification for a dig...

    I loved the vocabulary comment. I've been teaching English as foreign language for a living for more than 15 years and I had to look up "rambunctious", "egregious" and "cantankerous". But it's the attitude, the voice, the underlying work ethic and the obvious intelligence that keep drawing me to Ted out of so many other luthiers who make videos.

    Future Greg here. @48:20, don't listen to Ted. I've watched more minutes of this mans armpit and elbow than anyone else I've watched. I've been watching Ted since him posting a full 15 minute video was a 'holy jeez' moment. Cheers all, from Chinada.

    I watch Ted on a regular basis...going back in his catalog and looking forward to latest videos....his format of not needing to be "the star" of the videos like some do....his skills are the star, his narrative is the connection

      Yeah, he does more for us than just teach us. He also helps us relax. And have something to go to when were stressed out. But as for guitars, hes the best to watch

    Nice to actually see Ted's face. I'm one of those who neither play nor repair guitars. I just like to watch competent people at their craft. But also, there is a moral aspect: fixing things that are originally of good quality, rather than just trashing and buying a new one, just appeals to my sense of value and stewardship.

    One other note, I know electronics, yet I would video my own work if someone wanted me to do the work they cannot do themselves. Because of Ted I know when I'm asked to do the work, I'll video the process and explain why I did what I did to get the electronics to work againg.

  • @jeromestevenfaigin6059
    @jeromestevenfaigin6059 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I would hope when someone is willing to work on my Uncle's D28 Martin, would take a video of the process not just to show watchers how it's done but to show me that the work was documented and show me that his work was above normal and the process can be seen that the work was done right as well the play ability caused this afterwards and watching this makes it work in favor of the Luthier who did the work. Video of the work is a tool needed in today's craftsmanship of Luthiery today.

    I am an amateur luthier (if even that) and have learned SO MUCH from Ted. I enjoy his videos tremendously. He made the statement “get a cheap guitar and try it before you do it on a heirloom.”. That really resonated with me. For example, a neck reset on a cheap guitar is a current project. Having cared for my mother I certainly respect anyone who does.

    • @buschovski1
      @buschovski1 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Im learning a lot from Ted too. Ive devoted most of my life to playing than actually knowing anything about guitars. I guess getting a bit older now(54) ive become very interested in all this. And he is awesome. Hes the best guy to watch for me by far.

    I believe the byproduct of oxygen a concentrator is nitrogen they don't cost a lot to run i'm not sure what the cost difference would be or if the flow would be enough on the small medical units but you could potentially use this is you didn't have access to bottled gas.
