They don't provide a mask, you must bring your own if you like and it is not mandatory. If you have problem breathing on a Sulfur smell, it is not recommended to visit the area.

the hawks and owls' (especially owls) treatment is especially cruel. They should not be chained down and in a concrete facility. None of these birds should be. The macaw has nearly zero toys (something that will literally drive them insane). The eclectus parrot shouldn't be in that kind of high-stress environment.
Do the bus tickets sell out? Can you buy it in advance? How long does it take from the station to Nabana no Sato?
I think mostly it will not sell out, maybe when Nanaba no Sato or Nagashima Spa Land or Mitsui Premium Outlet have special events. Not sure if you can buy ticket in advance. Average travel time to Nabana no Sato is 50 mins.

This is a feature that Japanese trains have since so many decades ago. I don't understand why modern western trains don't implement it. It looks like a really simple mechanism.
Two reasons: It requires more room - which reduced the options of designing the cars and limits the number of rows. The legroom has to be in front of the rows rather than under it. It also does not allow table places with a similar functionality. But also nothing is as simple as it seems. It means that somebody has to move them, which in most western countries is a really expensive process, as it does not only include the work of turning them around, but also increases the turnaround time of the whole train. This requires a well maintained fleet, more trains available and prime logistics. In most countries public transportation is underfunded. Nowhere it is commercially viable. Delays cannot be compensated, as this process cannot be avoided or accelerated (opposed to eg. cleaners which can ride the last or first stop if time runs out or be scheduled in a way allowing to scale up or down). Especially when the cars are aging, this one further mechanism used several times a day (times the number of rows) will require thorough checking in order to prevent it from breaking during turnaround. While this is not impossible - after all Japan does it perfectly - it is one further factor which simply can be avoided by not offering that functionality, which in slower trains (and all the trains are slower than this one...) will not be missed as much.

The ¥7,600 1 day ticket can be used to other ski resort in the Hakuba Valley area, while the ¥5,000 can only be used in Iwatake Ski resort.
