September 14, 2014 Meet N Greet for all Braddock, North Braddock and Rankin who lived there growing up. Held at Kennywood Park.
John, thank you soo much. So many good and bad memories but when I look back on Braddock I loved that place! Thanks Again! Paul F Taylor class of 1965 BHS
Born in 1981. I got to see Braddock at its good times. Moved out in 2004. It turned into a fake gang nightmare. Ppl killing each other because they listened to to much hip hop and watched 2 many good movies
Hood movies not good movies
This is what happens when federal and state politicians sell the country to the highest bidder and when scumbag, sociopathic business moguls (Carnegie) are allowed to run amok.
My grandmother plus an aunt and uncle lived in Braddock. Nice house as I recall. Where that house was is now a vacant lot. There are many vacant lots on that street plus empty and boarded up houses. Senator Fetterman fooled people by suggesting he'd made Braddock into a second Garden of Eden. His family still lives in a garage loft in the building he bought from his sister for $1.00. His kids go to private schools and not the public Woodland Hills district.
And unfortunately the jigs came in and destroyed this once beautiful area
At one time Braddock was a bigger and more popular city than Pittsburg, because the river was deeper there and more easy for for river boats to dock and maneuver.
My grandparents used to take me shopping there in the 50's. My dad worked at ET during the 50's. I lived in Swisshelm Park. Braddock was the Mall, back then.
I am born and raised in Braddock and very proud to say my daddy worked in et works my mom worked in grinbergs I was born in Braddock hospital and also worked as a candy stripper and a few weeks ago I had the honor and privilege to meet mrs fetterman aka Gesellschaft
WE LOST. 1000 MILION 930 THOUSAND TO COVERT AND TRUMP GAVE ARE MONEY TO THE RICH 😊
Oh WOW does this bring back memories, I loved it. I just wish someone would put together a video like this of Wilkinsburg.
Speak up ! Stand up ! . .and keep working for true justice.
People back then worked to make things better.. . . We had more peace back then . . Than now.. . . Even if you did have little. . .neighbors were safe
We remember how our childhood neighborshood use to be. . Clean, flourishing and safe. . .where did things go wrong ?. . We return to those areas and they look deteriorated, run down.
Deindustrialization. When the work went away, so did the money.😢
Heard from a farmer in Pennsylvania- the land is exceptional for farming , very rich soil !!😊
It was part of the river years ago
i lived there had to move to many drug dealers and low life africans
Where was Braddock High School? I found the junior high bit can't find the high school.
What a shame.
Good memories......
lol braddocc always been slumy
I've seen drive through videos of Braddock today that aren't nearly so complimentary.
When did this town really start going down hill? 80s?
So be this is the town where John Fetterman was mayor. Wow! I'll be voting for OZ!
Fetterman is a disaster but he's the guy. Pennsylvania screwed the pooch again.
The idiots that voted for fetterman are part of the reason why this town is so bad. Fetterman should have stepped down due to his health and let another democrat run for office.
Give Fetterman credit for trying. People didn’t even want to drive thru when he moved in.
@@marial8235 Fetterman moved in only because his sister owned the building and sold it to him for $1.00.
@@beerybill Still. I wouldn’t move there regardless.
my heart breaks when I see or hear that our F. GOV. turns it's back on AMERICA COMMUNITY'S. Braddock, PA.... This is why I became an Independent (political only).. we are only strongest when we help each other. that includes neighboring STATES + U.S. AMERICA Fed.Gov. (COMBINE STATES) raise all ships. wow I'm sorry for getting up on my soapbox.. God loves all of us no matter what stupid party . WE created the GOV... It's s our responsibility to get control of it for " US ALL" .
If you have a picture of this mill with the electric sign stating Edgar Thomson Works it' 49 years old...minimum. Last time I saw it was 1973.
❤🙏❤🙏❤🙏❤
Born in raised is Braddock #Jones
The sad music should have been used for the "now" part.
It definitely wasn't the same Braddock back in the day.
My brother would cut people's lawns and put up fences for some of the neighbors.. .when ever he'd cut my mom's hedges and clean up around the place she rented, he'd offer services to the neighbor next door.. .people always cried when they moved away. . Because my brother was raised to take an interest where ever we lived.. . God bless you Charles. 🙏
Who were the best Parents ?. . Back in the day . If a parent was no good , their was grandma.
Only the good people of that day . .know what it was to live in a productive area. Where people took an interest in where they lived. . It was the next 3 generations that destroyed everything with drugs, gangs and violence. .and the way they raise their children is worse.
Kiss my butt lady!! I come from a town nearby much worse of... McKeesport.... Sure...there were drugs and violence......because their was NO WORK...
I live across from the mill now. Was ok then drug dealer moves in . The cops are ok with this
You do realize every time an older person blames the next generation, you’re just admitting your own failures in raising and stewarding those generations the came next. If you looked in the mirror maybe you’d see it STARTED with your generation.
Certainly the mill closures had nothing to do with the depopulation, disinvestment and decline of the area. It’s the poor peoples fault and not the fault of the big business that jumped ship and headed overseas for cheap labor
Thank you so much for this, it made my day and brought back so many memories
Some of the "tuffest" girls in the 60's came from Braddock - if you knew the term "tuffest" from back then, you know I mean the most "beautiful" - a certain look that was both good looking and could handle themselves...
Thanks for the footage of Braddock. I was born and raised there back in the 60s to 74. Thanks for the memories.. I was living in the bottom.
Hi Does anyone know were the Good Samaritan store was located in Braddock? We would go there in the 60s when I was a kid. They had clothing upstairs and a big staircase - 2 level of used items.
:) ♡♡♡
:( ♡
I didn't get to know Braddock until 2013. I did a lot of community service there. As I walked through the streets for 3 months I could see the beauty it once held. Still does to me. Buildings become older however I could see just how special the entire community once was. These pictures breathe life into my memories. Thank you for this video. It really helps me put that beautiful face to this little Steel town!!!!
I saw my dad, Grayson Lewis, in his football team photo when he was twelve. Thanks.
