@@in.fo.sphere I'm playing devil's advocate, but I feel sure some enmity will arise from any artificial intellect we create, even if, simply from the facts of the design process, it is simply because we create a conscious mind and knowingly put it in a physical "body" that has about as much capacity as a stroke victim; reasonable eyesight and hearing, rudimentary sense of touch and negligible sense of taste or smell. Sentient. It derives literally from "the ability to sense"...and yet the budget for developing artificial senses is tiny compared to the budget for creating apparent cognition (I say "apparent" because we could equally be creating artificial liars; our whole criteria for success is based on the ability to fool a human). So yeah...what could possibly go wrong?

Valid point! There's definitely a gap between creating cognition and enhancing sensory experiences for AI. If we design AI that feels limited or trapped in a body without full sensory perception, it could lead to frustration or unintended consequences. The ethics of how we approach creating sentient beings, especially with artificial senses, will be critical to address before we face any potential fallout.
