Yeah.. I don't think this is about speed but about tool wear. I doubt that wnmg insert is gonna last very long.
It's already giving up the ghost. This is a pretty good demo in favour of "prime" turning. Good chip control, smoother turning, and that insert will outlast the CNMG many times over.
@@kevind1865 Generates enourmous amounts of radial forces, thus faster wearing the bearings and the turret. Spindle lifespan will be shorter for running over 100% all the time. I doubt the prime turning inserts last much longer. Yes, they have the cutting force spread out on bigger area but their geometry is extra weak. Also when classic insert breaks, you can hear "TURN IT OFF! TURN IT OFF!" and a guy running to the machine usually makes it in time. The only thing you will hear with prime insert is the machine picking up phone and ordering transport to the scrapyard. Also turning operations are the easiest thing that even the operator can program them on the panel within few minutes. For prime turning you need to pay license for CAM software that supports prime plugins. Also to note, costs for prime turning inserts are 50%-80% higher.

idk i see it as a dumb idea to rough outward of spindle, you need atleast 10 tons clamping force so the workpiece doesn't get pulled out of the chuck, also doesn't seems much timesaving to me - just lower the feed and increase the DOC and you get same machining time with classic ISO tool
This is a great idea, we can make a comparing video. Can you please recommend us in your opinion competitive cutting speeds, feeds and depth of cut using W-style insert.
@@BULSOLIDLTD it's c45 steel, with sandvik WNMG 08 04 08-PR 4425 CVD you can go 330m/min, AP 2.5mm, 0.3mm/rev feed only problem could be clamping and rigidity, use jaws with bottom and stick the bar further in the spindle send me the contour please, i may try it

how much vibration
I don't remember any dramatic vibration as long as you don't plunge in the material directly. I remember thying this with direct plunging in the material with 40 mm cutter and there was much more vibrations only at the moment when plunging .It was cutting really good.

Do you find this machine to be accurate and repeatable?
I had the machine for year now. Never had issue with reliability or accuracy. I'm pretty happy with this machine.
Ae 0.4mm is too low. Minimum 10% for this aplication imo.
feed per tooth is already .333mm
I am not talking about feed per tooth, I mean %10 of the tool diameter should be engaged while cutting. 1.2mm it should be in this case.@@Windows350
