I appreciate you discussing the rules set at the beginning of the season and verifying that no rules have been broken. We are at the mercy of Yahoo or any other service we use when it comes to the settings offered by that fantasy service. It would be great if we could set them to whatever we chose, but this isn't always the case and I don't expect the commissioner which does this on his free time to be an enforcer at all times. Lets take a moment to think about why there are options like Waviers or IR. The intent for waivers is for all managers to have an opportunity to get players, regardless of how real time you follow the games or other manager's moves. The intent of IR is so that you don't have to drop a player you want to keep when they are injured hopefully for only a short period of time. These is the spirit of why each setting/rule exists. Now to my opinion and comments. I have been a member of the league since inception and I remember how much I disliked when waivers didn't exist once games started. I never follow every game in real-time and could never compete for free agents, so I was rarely competitive in those days as the season progressed. The spirit of this rule/setting is foster a more competitive league by allowing those which can only make adjustments a few times per week. It wasn't created to stop managers from allowing other managers from fielding a full roster. In real life, a general manager has to make sacrifices like spending money and in all situations the talent pool is so deep that there are thousands of people to choose from that can at least take the field. This is not the case in fantasy football. It is possible to stop a player from playing a full roster. In this league we are very restrictive on how many players of each position we must have. In the podcast you stated that only 9 out of 15 are required and the rest are whatever you please. IR increases this by 1. This isn't true. Without the IR spot, there are no actual wild card positions. There are positional wild cards like RB/WR/TE, QB/RB/WR/TE, and DEF/K. While I'm sure you stated it clearly, until now I was under the impression that you still had to have the requisite amount of active players that met the restrictions and there was no such thing as a complete wildcard because that has never existed in this league. I have tried in the past to have two kickers and two defenses and was asked to drop the most recent pickup. Of all things, this shocks me the most because it creates a roster spot which isn't dictated by the rules. Many have made requests over the years and in some cases it takes years to change rules. For the most part I like our rules as it allows managers to keep playing every week and have an opportunity to win even though there are injuries or players that aren't meeting expectations. What I didn't like about what you had to say was that our only options are all or nothing. Why is that the case? As you said this is a game that we all want to keep coming back to because it is fun. Why can't we just agree that we don't abuse rules just because we can. I went back and looked at every transaction for the entire season. This was the only instance where this was attempted this year. I don't appreciate this special full wildcard bench spot that only works in a special situation. I would either scrap the IR spot or require that you must keep your active roster to match the roster spots. That means if you use the IR for a kicker, then you have to pickup a kicker or defense. Same would be said for anyone other spot. You couldn't pick up a kicker/defense if you put a RB on the IR. If we must have a rule to prevent managers from being abusive to the FA pool, then do something like you can only have up to 5 FA pickups a football week. The 16 which happened last week is unlikely to be necessary to actually field a team for the week.
