Thank you for this *gem!* The cast is superb, the directing excellent, and the writing is so good it deserves every accolade that writing can get. So clever and witty, it merits study by screen writing students. There's nothing I've seen in recent years that compares. This is the kind of movie that you can watch again and again, and find something interesting and new each time. I know it's been said, but they don't make them like this anymore. They just don't. And we're so very fortunate to have such quality content at the tip of our fingers. I need to escape and this is the perfect distraction. 🌹

I don't think I ever said a movie was cute before but this one is (in a good way}. Got a big kick from Jack La Rue's performance. ( It helps if you've seen him in other movies). It's not a great print, but it is a most enjoyable one.

In these old movies there almost always seems to be a swipe against Republicans, but that was when Democrats were liberals, and Hollywood was filled with Liberals including Ronald Reagan who eventually led the Screen Actors Guild and fought against Communism infiltrating the movie industry. Then he was elected Governor of California, and later president of the USA.

Movie kept me on the edge of my seat. Old movies are the only ones I watch. Thank God for DA testing nowadays. Law enforcement catches them and the courts let them go after some, almost meaningless punishment most of the time.

No thanks on this film. Too much politics surrounding the media now, much less seeing it back in 1948. Maybe this era was previewing the beginning of the deep state. Think I’ll view a good Sherlock movie instead.

for me the best part of the movie was seeing a smog bound L.A. from a real perspective, with the 30's to 50's cars , newly poured freeways , funky old houses on dirt roads etc. that house would go for 875K now , l.o.l. this is a gem of history
