Richard: "I just took the Precision and Control class with Bobby this morning and had a blast. Bobby is a very good instructor. Very encouraging and a super nice guy. I highly recommend this class to anybody, regardless of your skill level. I only have about 650 miles behind me and this class really has helped me. Thanks again Bobby for a great class!!"

Honda F6B Smart Turn System Install
มุมมอง 1.1K3 ปีที่แล้ว
The Smart Turn System is an innovative product for canceling your motorcycle’s turn signal in a logical and smart way. You can go to their website to learn more, but it works very well. I doubled up and bought the Smart Brake System also (I think they called it the Smart Bundle?) It basically adds the safety of activating your brake lights when you use engine braking (without touching your brak...

    Thanks for this!

    Thanks to your video I was able to locate the proper wires but my biggest issue is finding a spot for the module. I set it on the Y you mentioned but found the other wiring push into it as you turn the handlebars and I'm concerned about that. Is that where you ended up putting it? I had this unit on my 1998 Valkyrie before and it was sure a lot easier install.

      @bctaberah 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that is where I wound up keeping it. I didn't like it there, but I honestly couldn't find an alternative so it could be upright like the instructions called for. I haven't had that bike for a while so I can't speak to longevity for that position though.

    Thanks for posting this. I put the STS unit on my previous bike, a 98 Valkyrie and it worked flawlessly. I'll do the install on my F6B this winter. Your video will sure help. Cheers.

      Wayne sure would love to ask you a few ???? I'm trying to install one on my 1998 Valkyrie GL1500CT.

      @@pauljohns4332 No Problem Paul. Mine was a 1998 Tourer as well. All the wiring was contained in the headlight and I positioned the actual little brain box just forward of the gas tank and zip tied to the frame behind a small plastic cover there. All the wires I needed to splice into were inside the headlight. Made for a clean, out of sight install. It was a much easier install than the F6B. Hope that helps but if you have other questions ask away. Cheers.

      I have now installed the Smart Turn System on my 2015 F6B and it works great. This is a great product that I would highly recommend.

    The good question is. Was it worth it ? Cutting my goldwing wires ? Have you tested and works perfect for. Did you noticed any different. ? Thank you.

    • @bctaberah
      @bctaberah 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes...it works perfectly. The only two things, as I mentioned in the video, are that (1) I spliced into the wiring too close to the handlebars and should've planned that better and (2) it took a little while before I realized that manually canceling them was a different thing than pressing centrally, instead, you have to push/pull in the same direction to cancel. So if you push right to turn right, you have to push right again to cancel that manually (or wait 11 blinks or whatever it is via the Smart Turn Setup). BUt the auto-cancel works flawlessly on any turn I tried, even the slightest sweeper.

    After watching your video I tore into my 2016 F6B STS install, but got stopped cold when I found 2 light blue and 2 orange wires, only 1 grey though. Not sure if they are front and back and maybe splice into both by combining into one connector. Did you run into this?

    • @bctaberah
      @bctaberah 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do not recall that but I had a tester that had a really sharp point that I could poke through the sheathing of the wires without having to cut into them. It was a lifesaver and through some process of elimination, I was able to figure it out.

    • @thaddeusilg6125
      @thaddeusilg6125 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bctaberahFYI - I tracked down a wiring diagram and the STS should splice into the solid colored lt blue, orange, and grey...as you did. The lt blue and orange wires with the white stripe are the running lights ...a possible switched power source for the STS as they are only powered in acc or on mode.

    • @thaddeusilg6125
      @thaddeusilg6125 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Final update for any DIYer. The orange wire with white stripe is not a good power source. I ended up running power and ground wires off of the USB outlet wiring I had installed in left cubby hole in fairing. All done and works perfectly.

    Thanks for the info! Looks a little daunting. Just received mine in the mail. I think I’ll wait until I change the air filter, which is due soon, to install it.
