I solved this equation in about 5 minutes. a=7, b=4, c=2. First, set a as high as possible not to exceed 148, then set b as high not to exceed 148. So a=7, b=4, that's 144. Only thing left is to set c=2, so 2^2 is 4. That is: 144+4 equals 148. Simple as that, no equations necessary. This video was 15 minutes long, I solved the equation in third of the time, by just experimenting with a calculator. Elementary, my dear Watson!

I did it without a calculator.

Input 49^(2 - 0.25 log(7, 25)) = 480.2 Result True Logarithmic form (2 - 0.25 log(7, 25)) log(49, 49) = log(49, 480.2)

Input 49^(1 - 0.25 log(7, 25)) = 9.8 Result True Logarithmic form (1 - 0.25 log(7, 25)) log(49, 49) = log(49, 9.8)

Clearly done, but no need to work out both scenarios. From (1) / (2) you got x - y = 1 Just plug it back into (1) 2^(1-y) x 3^y = 12 so 2^y x 3^y = 6 6^y = 6 => y = 1, so x = 2

Why divide by 2? Instead I multiplied it first by 2, then by 4 (so times 8 overall) thus avoiding fractions in my working until the last step.
